P&O Cruises has six ships, with Arcadia being the second largest of the six. Arcadia Cruises are of a high quality with a more traditional style than most cruise lines and complimenting her sister company Princess Cruises. Arcadia is rated four stars by Berlitz, the definitive guide to cruising.
Having joined the P&O Cruises fleet in 2005 and costing $400m to build, Arcadia was the flag ship of P&O Cruises until the arrival of Ventura in April 2008. At 83,000 tons, although very large, she can be considered a medium to large sized ship by modern standards. Her naming ceremony was performed by Dame Kelly Holmes, the duel Olympic champion.
Typically Arcadia Cruises have up to 1,952 passengers in 976 cabins, the cabins sizes range from 170 square feet up to the 517 square foot top of the range suites. Being a child free ship Arcadia is suitable for both couples and single passengers. She has a total of 11 decks and is 935 feet long.
News, P&O Cruises have announced a change to their smoking policy and each ship will have one dedicated internal public space for smoking. They will still allow smoking in cabins and balconies on Arcadia, Artemis, Aurora and Oriana, while smoking is not permitted in any cabins onboard Oceana or Ventura, but is allowed on the balconies.
